Let's try to answer some of the questions you may have!

What is a Simple Church?

Children of God meeting in homes or any other location (usually free) for the purpose of worship, fellowship, discipleship and ministry in the name of Jesus.

Why do we meet in small groups?

Our biggest reason for meeting in small groups is because we see it in the scriptures (Roms 16:3-5).

For a long time, we thought that churches met in homes simply because they could not meet in big buildings or because they could not meet publicly. However, we are learning every day that meeting in smaller groups has many other benefits that we may have overlooked.

Foremost among these benefits is the accelerated replication of simple churches. This helps us be a brighter light in our neighborhood and do what Jesus wanted us to do quicker (Matthew 28:18-20).

In summary:

  1. Small groups replicate faster
  2. We enjoy deeper fellowship in small groups
  3. Everyone can be involved in small groups
  4. We spend much less on church building and equipment so that we can spend more on spreading the good news of the Kingdom of God.
  5. In our homes, we are closer to the community.

What about the Children?

Our children learn by watching us rather than by adults telling them what to do.  So we encourage the older children to join us during our meetings and we let the little children play around us. In simple churches with many little children, the meetings are arranged so that the children and the adults experience God and His love together.

Are there pastors in every Simple Church?

No. Simple churches are not led by pastors. We follow a very simple process so that most people can facilitate the meetings using the discovery bible study method.

What about Music Ministry?

We enjoy the giftings of our people less often as a large group. But we get to train more people to worship in spirit and in truth

Are Simple Churches Scriptural?

Yes most churches in the New Testament met in homes – They were simple churches.

  • Philemon 1:2 – And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in thy house:
  • Acts 2:46 – And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
  • 1 Corinthians 16:19 – The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.
  • Colossians 4:15 – Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
  • Romans 16:5 – Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the first fruits of Achaia unto Christ.
